Our craft

Re-pointing

Re-pointing is the process of renewing the pointing — the external part of mortar joints — in masonry construction. Over time, weathering and decay cause voids in the joints between bricks and stone, allowing water ingress.

Why it matters

Small cracks become big problems

When mortar joints fail, water finds its way in. Left unchecked, that moisture works its way deeper into the wall — and once freezing weather arrives, it does real structural damage. Renewing the pointing seals the building envelope back up and protects what's behind it.

We're meticulous about matching mortar colour and finish to your existing masonry, so fresh joints blend in rather than stand out.

What we re-point

Tailored to your project

Every wall, every era and every material is different. Here's how we approach the three jobs we're asked for most.

brick

Brick

We use the latest dust-extraction equipment when removing old mortar. Our set-up minimises the spread of dust and debris. We aim to match the colour of our materials to suit your project and give the best possible finish.

Path & Patio

Give your old path or patio a new lease of life with our cleaning and re-pointing options. We handle everything from small patch repairs to full patio re-points, choosing the best product to suit your individual project.

How it's done

Our re-pointing process

1 · Assess

We inspect the masonry, identify failed joints and recommend the right mortar mix and finish for your property.

2 · Rake out

Old, decayed mortar is removed cleanly with dust-extraction equipment to keep mess and disruption to a minimum.

3 · Re-point

Fresh, colour-matched mortar is applied and finished by hand to blend seamlessly with the existing wall.
